The property teams at EMG Solicitors are celebrating their growth and commitment to service excellence.

Leading law firm, EMG Solicitors, provide a range of legal services including Court of Protection, Wills, trusts and probate, family, dispute resolution, residential conveyancing, and commercial property. Their commitment to delivering exceptional client service, and investment in their people, is central to their success.

The last 12 months has seen turnover at the firm rise by 26 percent as it reached its ninth anniversary in February, with an additional 35 colleagues joining the firm in 2023 so far. As part of their strategic growth plans, this year also saw the opening of their Darlington and Manchester offices.

The firm’s Darlington base is at the newly developed Coniscliffe House and is led by Director, Sarah Jackson. The firm’s Manchester office, which is led by Director, Ruth Wright, is located in Altrincham and will further support their client base in the North West.

The company’s impressive growth is also being seen across EMG’s residential and commercial property departments which services clients across the North. Starting with only a handful of recruits, the teams have now expanded to 33 colleagues.

Gwen Jones, Director and Head of Commercial Property at EMG said:

“I joined EMG just over five years ago now and work for a wide range of clients including limited companies, individuals, partnerships, pension funds, land and property developers, charities, and lenders. We support our clients with every aspect of their commercial property needs, from embarking on their first venture, entering into a short-term lease to the sale of their business so that they can enjoy a well-deserved retirement.

No matter the size of our clients’ business, we provide advice and support across many sectors from retail to agriculture, and everything in between. From a new local drinks start up business to a £20 million refinancing project, it keeps us on our toes and is certainly never dull!

And you know what? It’s that variety and the people that I absolutely love. Building relationships with our clients and referrers and helping them achieve their desired results. It’s their enthusiasm – you just get so absorbed in it and the passion your clients have for their ventures is infectious. We go over and above for them, and they really value that.”

Richard Swinbank, Director and Head of Residential Conveyancing added:

“I’m lucky enough to have been at EMG from the start, joining almost eight years ago now. We really do have a special culture here, where we live and breathe our values and genuinely care about our people and clients.

As head of the residential conveyancing team, the majority of our work involves supporting clients with the buying, selling and refinancing of houses. Now a team of 23, we service clients nationwide.

What I love about the job and the way we work at EMG is our commitment to not just delivering a great service, but the personal approach we have with our clients and taking the time to get to know them. Whether it’s a first-time buyer or someone elderly selling a property to move into a retirement home. Be it a £50,000 to a £5,000,000 property, we support each and every client in the best way we can.”

People and Processes

Alongside EMG’s strong culture, values and commitment to client care, they also continue to invest in new processes and electronic systems to aid efficiency and support service delivery.

Richard said:

“Our commitment to client service means we will continue to invest in the right people and resources. We are very passionate at EMG about recruiting the right talent who can deliver professionally but are the right cultural fit too.

We have made some great appointments to strengthen our team including commercial property specialist, Lynne McFaul, who heads up our Penrith branch. We also remain dedicated to developing our colleagues through training and annual promotion rounds. This year saw Callum Robertson, who joined the firm in 2016 as an apprentice, promoted to associate solicitor.

We continue to receive many client referrals which keeps us busy and supports the firm’s fast growth. In the last 12 months alone, over a third of our clients were repeat customers.”

Gwen added:

“I love how clients are attracted to who we are and how we do business. We take a human approach to our work and have fun too, supporting our clients, people and communities.

We are delighted with the awards we have received over the years which help set us apart including our Lexcel accreditation and Investors in People Award. Our strong client reviews are also testament to our commitment to client service.”

So, what’s next for EMG?

“We always joke about global domination! An office in Dubai maybe?” jokes Gwen. “Seriously though, through Emma Gaudern’s leadership and support and the great people and clients we are lucky to work alongside, I honestly believe anything is possible.”
