A senior solicitor in Cumbria has been accepted as a member of a prestigious partnership of lawyers offering specialist advice to clients seeking to challenge a will or claim of inheritance.

Disputes over wills and claims under the Inheritance Act can be challenging and now clients in Cumbria can draw on the expertise of Natalie Spedding, an associate solicitor at EMG Solicitors, in Penrith.

Natalie has been accepted as a member of The Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS), a partnership of solicitors, barristers and legal executives who are substantially engaged in contentious trust and probate law and practice.

Natalie joined EMG Solicitors just over a year ago and qualified as a solicitor 14 years ago.

She said: “I’m delighted to become a member of ACTAPS following a rigorous assessment of my skills in this area. I’m looking forward to further developing my expertise in contentious probate and inheritance tax claims, in order to support our clients through what can be very difficult and challenging situations. It will be very beneficial to be part of a group of specialists that share these same goals, and to exchange knowledge and experience with colleagues across the country.

“The opportunity to undertake additional, specific training and attend discussions and conferences means I can offer the very latest legal advice to clients. This is especially important when there are legal updates, such as the recent Inheritance Tax changes.

“The core values of EMG Solicitors mean that we are here to help people and deliver a high-quality client service, and that is certainly what we do to the best of our ability.”

Natalie grew up on her family’s farm near Carlisle and is married to a dairy farmer. She has her own flock of North of England mules and Dutch spotted texel sheep and is a regular at agricultural shows across Cumbria.

ACTAPS was established in 1997 for lawyers specialising in contentious trust and probate work.

Based on Duke Street, EMG Solicitors offer a wide range of services including Wills, Trusts and Probate, Family Law and Mediation, Dispute Resolution, Court of Protection and Residential Conveyancing.
