Caroline Giles

Administrator

Job Role at EMG

I recently joined the EMG team as a legal administrator for the Court of Protection Property & Affairs team based in EMG’s branch in Manchester. No two days are the same within this role which can be challenging, but it is exciting, and very rewarding work.

Experience

I completed my undergrad in Civil Law in Ireland in 2022 before completing a MA in Journalism and subsequently deciding that my heart belongs in law. The vast majority of my career up to this stage has been in the hospitality industry where I worked fulltime throughout my studies. This experience provided me with many transferable skills that I am keen to develop within a legal environment.

I relocated from Ireland to Manchester in 2023 and began work in a legal office dealing mainly with RTA and flight delay claims. I did not find this area of law to be in line with my values and began work with the COP Property & Affairs team in 2024.

What do you like about working at EMG?

Although I have only been with EMG for a short time, I really like the work environment. All my colleagues are warm and welcoming, and they are always only a phone call away if I need any support or guidance. The Directors of the company frequently and openly thank the staff for their hard work, and I think this acknowledgment is proof of how attentive and supportive EMG is towards its employees and their wellbeing. I like how the company values are incorporated into everything that we do whether that is in how we help our clients or how we interact with each other. I enjoy my work and I find it interesting and worthwhile as I enjoy helping others.

Outside of EMG?

When I’m not working my favourite pastime is horse riding and I try to go whenever the opportunity arises. I am a member of the local show choir in my area and most recently I have joined the theatre group, landing the lead role in a small production that will be staged in Spring. I love to travel, and I am always happiest when I have something booked to look forward to. Whenever I go home to Ireland, I love swimming in the Atlantic – cold but refreshing!
