Hayley Miller
Solicitor
Job Role at EMG
I am a Solicitor at the firm based in our Penrith office. I joined EMG in December 2024, and I specialise in Court of Protection – Health and Welfare and Mental Health.
I have experience in Court of Protection proceedings representing clients who lack capacity to make decisions for themselves, dealing with a variety of issues relating to their personal welfare, including where they live, the care they receive, who they have contact with, etc. I also assist family members who are concerned about their loved one’s care and treatment. In my mental health work, I advise clients who are detained under or subject to the Mental Health Act and represent them at Mental Health Tribunal hearings.
I understand that my clients are often experiencing a difficult time in their lives, and so I strive to treat my clients with dignity and make sure that their position is properly considered whilst providing sensitive, honest, and practical advice.
Experience
I graduated from university with a First Class Honours, Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) in 2017, followed by a Distinction in Legal Practice Course and Masters in 2018. I then began working in a high street firm where I completed my training and qualified as a Solicitor whilst gaining experience in family, mental health, and mental capacity law.
What do you like about working at EMG?
I really appreciate how supportive everyone is and how passionate we all are about what we do. I am equally proud of the firm’s values and the work that EMG does for charities and the local community.
Outside of EMG?
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring the great outdoors with my two golden retrievers.
