Job Role at EMG

I joined EMG Solicitors in January 2021 as a Legal Secretary in the Commercial Property department providing secretarial support to the department as required. I work closely with the head of the department on caseloads consisting of sales and acquisitions, development sites and property, commercial leases, acting for lenders and borrowers and some complex and high value finance transactions.

Experience

I have over 26 years of experience working in law firms. I started as an office junior in a high street practice in Chester le Street for 4 years and then progressed to a junior secretary. I moved to an international law firm in Newcastle and was there for 18 years, whilst there I worked as a personal assistant for the head of the property department and also worked for 2 years in the Litigation department. I then went to a firm of solicitors in 2016 who set up a new company and worked there for 4 years as a personal assistant before joining EMG Solicitors.

What do you like about working at EMG?

Everyone has been so friendly, helpful and approachable since I started, nothing is ever too big or too small. I thought it would be hard starting a new job in these strange times as my first day was in lockdown but EMG have been very reassuring.

Outside of EMG?

I am married with two young boys and a beagle, there is not much to do in lockdown so pleased we have a dog as it’s a good excuse to go out for a walk.
