Expert Witness Paralegal

Job Role at EMG

I joined EMG in January 2018 as our COP administrator. In early 2019 I started assisting Emma Gaudern with her expert witness matters and in October 2019, I was promoted to paralegal, solely working on expert witness files doing both admin and fee earning. Since then, my knowledge around expert witness work has vastly expanded (along with our expert witness team!). My job role at EMG has changed so much in a few years. I now assist Emma in the preparation of her witness statements and reports on estimated future deputyship costs, summarising the evidence and drafting the witness statements.

I have worked in the legal sector for 14 years in a variation of roles including reception, admin, secretarial, PA to a head of department and most recently being a paralegal and fee earning. I have been a Paralegal at EMG for 3 years now and am now fee earning full time. Since working at EMG Solicitors I have worked in the Court of Protection team and love the niche department that we work in.

What do I like about working at EMG?

My favourite thing about EMG is the people I work with – some of my best friendships have been formed here. My second favourite thing is being part of The Social Team and organising our staff events & charity days for the firm, from Christmas Party planning in March to organising Red Nose Day charity buffets!

Outside of EMG

When I am not at work I will be found studying for my law degree at Teesside University or spending time with my two young children and bulldog. I also enjoy cooking, socialising with my friends and seeing my ever – growing family!
