Job Role at EMG

I am an Associate Solicitor with the firm and joined EMG in May 2023. I am in the Disputes & Litigation team at our Penrith Office. I deal with a wide range of disputes, for example, those between landlords and tenants or between neighbours, those involving consumer matters, contracts, debt matters, enforcement matters and many more. I also undertake employment disputes, settlement agreements and drafting contracts and policies. I am also able to deal with HR aspects of disciplinaries and grievances.

Experience

I graduated from Lancaster University with a Geography Degree and converted to Law at the College of Law in York in 2008. I undertook my training contract qualified as a Solicitor in 2010 at a firm in Carlisle during which I dealt with general civil litigation work and employment before joining EMG.

What do you like about working at EMG?

The people. Everyone makes you feel welcome and do their best to help. The core values of the firm mean that at the end of the day we are here to help people and that is certainly what we do to our best ability. Sometimes this is not always to the letter of the law and is a more commercial, practical decision is to be made. I enjoy working with the varied clients at EMG and their problems mean that no day is ever the same!

Outside of EMG?

I am a dairy farmers wife so there is never much free time! I have my own flock of North of England Mules and Dutch Spotted Texels. My family and I love attending an agricultural show. I enjoy trying to grown potatoes and dahlias – with varying success! I like going on holiday – to the USA (but mostly Walt Disney World!)
