Job Role at EMG

I am the Legal Cashier Manager at the firm and joined EMG in February 2023. I spend most of my time working in our Finance department dealing primarily with the “client side” of legal cashiering and driving forward better working practices for both finance and fee earning staff members.

Experience

I have worked in law firms for most of my career starting at a large firm in Newcastle as a temp. I was taken on and subsequently ran the finance function for the volume conveyancing side of the business whilst also helping develop the CMS. I was approached by a niche practice specialising in Litigation in 2004 and played a significant role in expanding the business by improving procedures throughout the firm. This involved streamlining workflows and implementing system changes meaning work could be carried out in more efficient ways. I worked there for 18 years before deciding to find a new challenge which has led me to EMG Solicitors.

What do you like about working at EMG?

Everyone at EMG is extremely approachable, despite their busy workloads. Working within a support environment means I get to speak with many staff members which brings various challenges but also rewards. No two days are the same.

Outside of EMG?

In my free time I have a season ticket for Newcastle United and take my children with me to watch the games. I am also a volunteer youth team coach of a top-level team which I enjoy greatly. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and love to go on holidays abroad.
