Costs Lawyer

Job Role at EMG?

I joined EMG Solicitors as a Costs Lawyer in October 2018. The majority of my time is spent dealing with the firm’s Court of Protection Bills of Costs for assessment by the Senior Courts Costs Office. I assist in recovering legal costs following conclusion of a matter, whilst ensuring that clients are properly charged for their Solicitor’s work.

I graduated from Northumbria University in 2010 with an LLB (hons) in Law. Whilst studying for my degree I began training as a Law Costs Draftsperson. After graduation I decided not to pursue a training contract but to focus on a career in costs. After a further three years study I qualified as a Costs Lawyer in 2015. I have experience in all areas of costs, now specialising in Court of Protection and Legal Aid matters.

What do you like about working at EMG?

I love the family ethos at EMG Solicitors and that each person in the firm is part of the EMG family.

Outside of EMG?

I love to travel and discover new places. However, when I’m not exploring new places I’m generally found out for long walks with my husband and border collie.
