People & Culture Advisor
Job Role at EMG
I started my new role at EMG in March 2021 as the People & Culture Advisor, I’ll be doing lots of work over various different projects helping support the Head of People & Culture.
One of my main focuses is to really help develop and enhance the employee journey and ensuring we have excellent people practices is one of the aims for my role, with these in place it supports our client facing team members to deliver an exemplary service to all their clients.
I have a particular interest in rewards, mental health and wellbeing, I really look forward to helping the firm achieve the Gold medal for the Better Health at Work award.
Before I started at university I was working as at a youth club as a sessional youth worker, I then went on to become the Station Lead for 6 months before I left to concentrate on my last year at University. During this period I also worked for a manufacturing company as an HR Intern during the day, I got to work on some huge projects and got so much exposure to HR life.
After I graduated from Northumbria Business School I worked at TUI for a short while helping people find that all important get away! Then I landed my previous role as a Graduate HR Business Partner.
During my time working as a Graduate HR Business Partner I was involved in everything, the full employee lifecycle. Aside carrying out HR admin tasks, recruitment, dealing with employee relations I was also running larger projects and secured the Bronze medal for the Better Health at Work award, running regular campaigns. I worked through the first lockdown solo doing weekly pub quizzes, running bingo and offering mental health support to members of staff, this really build on the work that I was doing for the Better Health at Work award.
What do you like about working at EMG?
I like that since the day I joined everyone makes you feel so welcome, joining during Covid-19 and the lockdown is difficult for anyone but I’ve been made to feel like I’m part of the team! I also love how there’s always something sweet in the kitchen (usually cake).
Outside of EMG?
Outside of work, I like to try all sorts of things. I’m a massive rugby fan and a strong Newcastle Falcons supporter, I also play touch rugby with their foundation. I’ve always been massively into dancing and I’ve done this on and off for years, I’m also into golf however I’m more of a fair weather golfer. Otherwise I’m usually out and about with family, friends or my partner on day trips or a good old bongo bingos night!
