Rachael Hart
Senior Associate Solicitor
Job Role at EMG
I am a Senior Associate Solicitor in the Court of Protection Health and Welfare team and joined EMG in June 2023. I predominantly work in Mental Health and represent those who are detained or subject to the Mental Health Act.
Experience
I graduated from Teesside University in 2007 and worked in a few high street firms along the way working mainly in family law. I also gained some invaluable experience working in crime and prison law where I also gained my police station representation accreditation. I completed my LPC at the College of Law in York (as it was then) and qualified as a solicitor in 2012. It was in 2013 I was introduced to the area of Mental Health Law and decided this was for me.
I moved into the Mental Health department at a Middlesbrough firm in 2014 and gained my Mental Health Accreditation with the Law Society in 2015. I stayed at the firm for almost 9 years and worked up to head of department where I also took on some Court of Protections matters. In 2023 I decided it was time for a new challenge and moved on to EMG solicitors.
What do you like about working at EMG?
I was drawn to EMG by the fact the firm started off working solely in the specialist area of Court of Protection work and now seeing how successful it has become! I also agree with their values, ethos and the work they do for charities and agencies. EMG genuinely care for the welfare of their employees and they make you feel valued and part of the team from day 1.
Outside of EMG?
I became a dementia friend in March 2016 and undertook further training to become a dementia champion in May 2016. I have a keen interest in raising awareness of dementia and the work that is carried out by the Alzheimer’s Society. I am also a volunteer welfare officer for my local children’s football club.
