Simone Kent

Client Executive Solicitor

Job Role at EMG

I am a Client Executive Solicitor in the Court of Protection Property & Affairs team at EMG, joining the firm in July 2022. I represent clients who lack capacity, as defined by the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and support them to make decisions for themselves. I assist the professional deputy or trustee with the day to day management of our clients property and finances.

I graduated from Northumbria University with a Master in Law in 2018. In the first semester of my final year, I studied Internal Law at the University of Lucerne in Switzerland. I began working at a North East Law firm in my second year of university which allowed me to gain administrative and secretarial experience in residential conveyancing and personal injury. Shortly after graduating, I commenced my training contract and gained experience in Family Law, Wills, Court of Protection Health & Welfare and Court of Protection Property & Affairs. I qualified as a Solicitor in September 2020 and have since specialised in Court of Protection work, supporting vulnerable individuals to manage their property and financial affairs.

What do you like about working at EMG?

EMG are recognised for their culture & values and it is very clear to see why. Everyone is very helpful and approachable. I received a great welcome from the team which helped me settle in quickly.

I love working in Court of Protection, while it can be challenging, it is extremely rewarding. No two days are the same which certainly makes the job interesting and enjoyable. I feel very lucky to work in such a friendly team at a great firm as well as loving the job that I do.

Outside of EMG?

In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit. I am a keen runner and enjoy participating in fitness challenges. I am currently training for my first half marathon and while I am finding this challenging, I am enjoying getting outside and taking in the countryside while out running.
